Ketogenic Therapy & Metabolic Health SupporT
Metabolic dysfunction occurs when the body's energy systems are not working as efficiently as they should. This can affect blood sugar regulation, energy levels, weight gain in some, hormones, brain function and overall health.
The encouraging news is that you can enjoy more energy, greater mental clarity, better concentration, fewer cravings, a more balanced mood and lasting improvements.
Many chronic conditions have metabolic dysfunction at their root. Factors such as insulin resistance, blood sugar dysregulation, oxidative stress, chronic inflammation and hormonal imbalances can largely contribute to fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, PCOS, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, digestive issues, low mood and poor concentration.
Every person is different, and the level of carbohydrate reduction that may be beneficial will depend on your health goals and circumstances. Not everyone needs to follow a ketogenic diet. Often, starting with a moderate reduction in carbohydrates is enough to begin seeing positive changes, and we can then review your progress and decide whether further adjustments are needed. During your consultation, we will create a personalised plan tailored to your individual needs and goals.
My role is to help you understand whether this approach is right for you and, if so, guide you through the process safely and effectively.
What is Ketogenic Therapy?
Nutritional ketosis is a natural metabolic state in which the body uses fat and ketones as an alternative source of fuel. It has been studied for over 100 years and is most well-known for its use in epilepsy, although research has expanded into many other areas of health.
Many people are surprised to learn that ketones are not unusual or unnatural. The body can produce ketones during periods of fasting, overnight while we sleep, prolonged exercise and at certain stages of pregnancy, when energy demands increase. Ketones provide an important alternative fuel source for both the brain and body, reflecting the body's remarkable ability to adapt to different energy needs.
A ketogenic diet is more than just a way of eating; for many people, it becomes a sustainable lifestyle. By reducing carbohydrate intake, the body shifts to using fat and ketones as its primary source of fuel. This natural metabolic state, known as nutritional ketosis, can greatly improve:
· Energy levels
· Blood sugar regulation
· Reduced hunger and cravings
· Greater feelings of fullness
· Mental clarity and concentration
· Weight management and broader improvements in metabolic health.
